Tags & segments
A tag labels a batch of imported contacts, and works as a filter when picking email or SMS campaign audiences.
Where tags are added
Tags are added when you import contacts. In the import wizard, type a name in the ‘Tag (optional)’ field at the last step (e.g. 2026-06 import, expo leads) and everyone in that batch gets the tag. Use it to record where a group of contacts came from.
Where tags are used — audience filters
- SMS sends — tap tag chips in the audience sheet to narrow to just those contacts. (Email campaigns do not support tag targeting yet — use lists.)
- Sequences bulk enrollment can also target contacts by tag.
Example: import expo business cards with an ‘expo leads’ tag, then pick only that tag in next week’s SMS audience.
Tags vs. status vs. lists
- Status — a single value for the sales stage (new → announced → responded …), changed on the contact card.
- Tags — source/batch labels — added per import batch, consumed as audience filters.
- Lists — folders you curate by hand — add or remove anyone freely. For managing a hand-picked group today, lists are the better tool.
Right now tags can only be added at import. Attaching tags on an individual contact, or coloring them, isn’t available yet — use lists when you need hand-picked management.
